Tashkent hosts the Uzbek-Tajik business forum
An Uzbek-Tajik business forum was held in Tashkent on 16 August 2018, within the framework of which bilateral meetings in the B2B format took place.
The event was organized to promote the expansion of trade ties between the entrepreneurs of the two countries, as well as to promote the growth of the number of new joint ventures and the strengthening of bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
Uzbekistan to implement solar energy project
SkyPower Global will hold a specialized job fair in Tashkent to select project personnel for local office within the part of implementation of the first stage of long term cooperation with the Government of Uzbekistan and Uzbekenergo.
SkyPower Global will invest up to US$1.3 billion to implement a project on construction of solar power stations in Uzbekistan with total capacity of 1000 megawatts. Uzbekistan will purchase electricity produced by these stations.
Hilton hotel to open on the territory of Tashkent City
One of the lots (No. 5) provides for the construction of a Congress Hall and a five-star hotel of the Hilton brand with a height of 20 floors. There will be 250 rooms of 5 categories. The area of the hotel is 49 thousand square meters.
Gross gold and currency reserves of Uzbekistan decrease by $270.6 million in July
According to the bank, gross gold and currency reserves as of 1 August 2018 amounted to US$27.39 billion against US$27.66 billion as of 1 July 2018.
Assets in foreign currency made up US$13.59 billion and monetary gold – US$13.79 billion. Net gold and currency reserves for the month decreased from US$26.66 billion to US$26.36 billion.
Gross gold and currency reserves fell mainly due to a decrease of gold prices from US$1,250.55 to US$1219.20 per ounce (estimated impact on the decline – US$347.0 million).
Geoinnovation center to import and use drones
“Geoinnovation center” under Goskomgeodeczadastre uses drones in agriculture.
Goskomgeodeczadastr, in addition, will now deal with the localization of drones, the development of recommendations for their use, help prepare operators, repair and maintain the devices.
Banks of Uzbekistan buy hard currency from population for US$1.28 billion in 1H
Uzbekistan’s commercial banks bought foreign currency worth US$1.28 billion from the population in the first half of 2018, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan said in a review of cash circulation in the first half of 2018.
The Central Bank of Uzbekistan noted that in the first quarter of 2018, through international money transfer systems, Uzbekistan receives US$950 million, while in the second quarter it rose 1.4 times (US$1.33 billion).
