Inflow of tourists double in 1H2018
The number of tourists from countries for which a visa-free regime was introduced has significantly increased. Thus, 31,966 people (+95.6 percent) arrived from Turkey, 6,200 – from Japan (+68.1 percent), 3,615 from Israel (+86.2 percent), 750 from Indonesia (over a threefold increase), and 424 from Singapore (an increase by more than 2.5 times).
There was an increase in the number of citizens of South Korea (57.5 percent) and Malaysia (by 2.6 times), who arrived in the country in June, although some decline was observed until May 2018.
Sweet cherry export is increasing
By July 8, 2018, Uzbekistan exported sweet cherry worth over $140.95 million, the Uzbekozikovkatholding agricultural company stated on July 11.
According to the information, Uzbekistan exported 33,625 tons of sweet cherry in 2018 – an increase of 2,880 tons or $73.01 million compared to last year.
For the same period in 2017, Uzbekistan exported 30,600 tons of sweet cherry for a total of $66.83 million. In 2017, Uzbekistan exported about 32,000 tons of sweet cherries, which is 5,000 tons more than same indicator of Spain, according to EastFruit analysts
Uzbekistan reduces oil production
In January-June, the country produced 375.2 thousand tons of oil, which is 9.7% less compared to the same period in 2017 (415.5 thousand tons).
At the same time, the production of gasoline increased by 3.1% (560 thousand tons) and diesel fuel by 17.9% (557.2 thousand tons).
The production of coal sharply decreased – by 14.8% (1.68 million tons, while in 2017 it was 1.98 million tons).
The production of natural gas continues to grow – this time the growth was 6.3% (24 461.1 million m3).
The amount of transactions on e-commerce in Uzbekistan increased
The amount of e-commerce transactions in the second quarter of 2018 amounted to 872.4 billion soums. This is by 31.5% more compared to the first quarter, when there were 663.5 billion soums.
Logistic hub will be built at “Chukursai” station
JSC “Uzbekiston Temir Yullari” has developed a proposal to create a modern logistics center on the basis of the railway sorting station “Chukursai”, located in Tashkent.
The expected processing capacity of the logistics center is 1.5 million tons of export and import goods per year. For example, if today 125 stations are handled at the station, after the launch of the logistics center this figure will increase to 250. Creation of a logistics center will create about 200 new jobs.
New law “On the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan”
The membership in the Chamber has been voluntary for small businesses and private entrepreneurship, however, for other business entities it has become mandatory.

According to Sputnik Uzbekistan, more foreign airlines will provide services. This provides a great opportunity for Uzbekistan realize its tourism potential, since to significantly increase the number of tourists you need at least 50 flights per day, and thus the assistance of foreign air carriers is required.
