According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the delegation of Uzbekistan headed by the chairman of the State Committee on Geology and Mineral Resources (Goskomgeo) Bobir Islamov took part in the international mining exhibition in Toronto, organized by the Association of Miners and Geological Surveyors of Canada.
During the exhibition, an agreement was reached with B2Gold on the geological study of three promising gold ore deposits in the Navoi region, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs repored.
The volume of investments of the Canadian company at the first stage will be two million dollars. Upon the successful implementation of the project B2Gold is ready to multiply the volume of investments and start production.
Uzbekistan invited the Swiss company Stadler to organize the production of passenger carriage in Uzbekistan
The Uzbek side proposed to introduce Stadler’s modern equipment and technologies at industrial enterprises of the state railway sector, as well as to supply components and main traction systems of electric locomotives from Switzerland. The negotiation was held on operation of modern trains of metro and electric trains of Swiss production in Uzbekistan.
The parties discussed future prospects for exporting to the regions of Central Asia and other projects.
Upon completion of the negotiations, an agreement was reached on the development of mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation.
The delegation of Uzbekistan led by the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov held a number of meetings in Hungary, the press service of the ministry reported.
An agreement was reached with representatives of Gedeon Richter Tibor Horvath on a business visit to Uzbekistan in order to study the economic potential and industrial infrastructure of free pharmaceutical industrial zones, markets for raw materials and the sale of finished products, as well as prospects for its implementation in neighboring countries.
The delegation also met with the head of Wizz Air’s private low-cost airline, Joseph Varadi. He supported the need to study the civil aviation market of Uzbekistan for a clearer vision of the format and strategy of cooperation. The company management will visit the country in April-May of the current year.
Lukoil hopes to discover new hydrocarbon reserves in Uzbekistan, an agreement was signed to explore the territory in the north-west of the country, said President of the company, Vagit Alekperov, on Monday, speaking at CERAWeek conferences in Houston.
“During the last visit [of its representatives to Uzbekistan], the company signed an agreement to explore the colossal territory in the Karakalpak region, this is north-western part of Uzbekistan. We hope that we can make discoveries on this territory so that we will have further development”.
Uzbekistan is one of the key regions for Lukoil. The company operates on the territory of the republic on the basis of production sharing agreements on the Kandym-Khauzak-Shady and Gissar projects.

Representatives of Honeywell was invited to participate in promising projects. In turn, the president of Honeywell in the regions with the high growth rates of Turkey and Central Asia Frans Van Dersan expressed readiness to provide Uzbekistan with the most advanced solutions in the field of petrochemical chemistry and to assist in the training and retraining of specialists.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on the creation of a working group that will work out issues to expand the joint partnership and prepare a Concept for the implementation of promising projects in the oil and gas industry of Uzbekistan.
