Uzbekistan has chosen a potential site for the construction of the nuclear power plant
The potential location for the plant is the area around Lake Tudakul, situated on the border of Navoi and Bukhara regions.
“Now, 3-4 potential sites are being studied near the Lake Tudakul. It is necessary to choose the most suitable place with the best soil characteristics, so that it is stable and rocky. For this purpose, sites on both east and west sides of the lake were chosen. We are currently conducting geological work and have drilled more than 50 wells. At the end of the research, the best place will be chosen,” said Ilham Sadykov, deputy director of the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan.
According to Ilham Sadykov, at the initial stage of the NPP construction project, 70 sites across the country were chosen, and then 10 sites were selected in March. “Thus, we have Tudakul. This is the most promising place, both in terms of the availability of drinking water, the infrastructure and energy supply, and in terms of soil and seismological characteristics. This place was the most optimal for future construction,” Sadykov said.
