Uzbekistan government plans to create the Ministry of Energy in the near future. The department will be entrusted with the whole complex of issues of organization and regulation activities of the fuel and energy industry of the republic.
The relevant decree “On measures to accelerate the development and ensure the financial sustainability of the electricity industry” was signed by the head of state, the press service of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic reports. According to the document, a “road map” was approved to increase generating capacity, modernize electric networks, improve accounting and control of electric energy consumption in 2018-2020.

It should provide for the widespread attraction of private (including foreign) direct investment in enterprises for the production, distribution and sale of electric energy, including public-private partnerships.
Textile workers of Uzbekistan and Russia sign three cooperation agreements
Textile workers of Uzbekistan and Russia signed three cooperation agreements following a textile forum of the First Interregional Cooperation Forum between the two countries. In particular, an agreement of mutual understanding was signed between the Uztekstilprom Association and the Government of Ivanovo Region in expanding cooperation between enterprises of the textile, garment and knit industries.
The Uztekstilprom Association and the All-Russian Public Organization “Business Russia” concluded an agreement on establishing closer contacts between the business structures of two countries in the textile, garment and knitwear industry.
The Agency for Advertising and Marketing of Textile Products at Uztekstilprom Association and Samara Textile Company signed an agreement, which will facilitate the establishment of cooperation ties in the implementation of export deliveries and attracting investment. As a result, total amount of attracted investments in export supplies will exceed US$15 million.
World Bank to help improve emergency medical services in Uzbekistan
The project was approved in April 2018 by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors and will be financed by a US$100 million credit. The project launch workshop took place today at a seminar in the Samarkand regional branch of the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Aid involving representatives of the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan and the World Bank.
The existing emergency medical services (EMS) system in Uzbekistan is highly fragmented, with little coordination between districts and regions across the country, due to the absence of integrated and computerized dispatch services to operate and monitor the activities of specialized ambulance teams required at the scene.
In the meantime, the volume of calls requiring hospitalization of patients continues to increase. In 2017, 15.6 million outgoing calls were made to 103 in Uzbekistan, of which 8.7 million people received medical care. In 87% of cases, medical care was provided to patients at home, in 12% of cases they were hospitalized, and in 1% of cases, the calls were false.
