Uzbekistan and Egypt sign agreements for US$470 million
Uzbekistan and Egypt signed agreements on implementation of investment projects totaling US$470 million following the results of the Uzbek-Egyptian business forum and the cooperation exchange in Tashkent.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Trade, credit agreements with Egyptian banks for US$60 million were also concluded. These agreements were signed by the National Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan with African Eximbank and Cairo Bank.
Also export contracts worth US$13 million to supply cotton yarn and copper pipes were signed.
Russia to construct nuclear power plants in Uzbekistan
Prime Ministers of Uzbekistan and Russia Abdulla Aripov and Dmitry Medvedev signed an agreement on the construction of a nuclear power plant at a meeting in Moscow.
Rosatom will build a two-block nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan with a capacity of 1.2 GW each.
As a result of the launch of the nuclear power plant, 3.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas will be saved.
The US and Uzbekistan to implement renewable energy sources
The US and Uzbekistan governments have launched the Energy of the Future program, which will help accelerate the integration of renewable energy.
The program “Power the Future” (Power the Future) is implemented with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). It assists national governments in removing political, regulatory, technical and financial barriers in order to expand the use of clean energy throughout the region and improve the investment climate.
Uzbekistan and Malaysia discuss development of trade and economic relations
Uzbek Ambassador to Malaysia Ravshan Usmanov held talks with Darell Leiking, Minister of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of further development of bilateral mutually beneficial trade, economic and investment cooperation, within which the Malaysian side is provided with comprehensive information on major economic reforms in the country, including currency policy, free economic zones, favorable business conditions, economic potential of the country and its individual regions, including Khorezm region and FEZ “Khazorasp”.
Uzbekistan to expand interaction with Egmont group
The Government of Uzbekistan issued a resolution “On organizational measures to ensure the obligations of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the framework of participation in the activities of the Group of Financial Intelligence Units “Egmont”.
The Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan is designated as a specially authorized body responsible for ensuring the obligations of Uzbekistan within the framework of participation in the activities of the Egmont Group.
Ak Bars Bank and Uzbekinvest sign cooperation agreement
The National Export-Import Insurance Company Uzbekinvest and Ak Bars Bank (Tatarstan) signed an agreement on cooperation.
Under the document, the bank will provide guarantee support and financing of export-import transactions with the participation of the Uzbekinvest insurance company.
Foreign investments: Benefits, opportunities and results
Khokim of Navoi region K.Tursunov met with a group of foreign investors planning to conduct business in the region through direct investments.
At the meeting with representatives of business circles of Greece, the project on the organization of cheese production in the free economic zone “Navoi” and Kanimehsky district was discussed.
Their new projects were presented also by Iranian businessmen – representatives of the joint venture in the form of a limited liability company Mr. Fish Company, engaged in fish farming in the Kyzyltepa district.
South Korea to develop the master plan of Jizzakh
The National Project Management Agency (NAPU) under the President of Uzbekistan, the Khokimiyat of the Jizzakh region and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of South Korea signed a memorandum of cooperation.
The document was signed following a visit of a Korean delegation from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, as well as state architectural and construction companies such as Korea Land & Housing Corporation, Deloitte Anjin LLC, Posco Daewoo, Dohwa Engineering to the Jizzakh province.
Uzbekistan and Russia discuss cooperation in the field of production of medicines
The head of the Agency for Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdullayev held a meeting with Russian pharmaceutical manufacturers in Moscow.
Representatives of Sotex, Nanolek, Valenta Farm, Dalhimfarm and others took part in this meeting.
During the meeting, Russian companies received information about the pharmaceutical industry in Uzbekistan and preferences that are provided to local producers.
