Germany will host “Uzbekistan economy days” in spring
Uzbekistan economy days will be held in Bavaria this spring. This was announced following the meeting of the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and Department Director at Bavarian State Chancellery Thomas Gruber.
“On the mutual initiative in Munich and other cities of Bavaria in the spring of this year, Uzbekistan economy days will be organized with the participation of a wide range of entrepreneurs, as well as industry associations from Uzbekistan and investors from Germany to hold presentations on the investment potential of Uzbekistan and to organize targeted meetings and negotiations in B2B format,” reported in the press service of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade.
Later it is planned to hold Bavaria economy days in the capital of Uzbekistan. It is planned to organize business forums with the participation of German investors within the framework of the event. Representatives of business circles will visit the regions of the republic and sign final agreements on the implementation of joint projects.
Redco International considers prospects for implementation of energy projects in Uzbekistan
On 22 February 2019, a meeting was held with Mr. Saif-ur-Rehman Khan, director and co-owner of a major industrial holding Redco International (Qatar). The company, with more than 14,000 employees, is engaged in the production of reinforced concrete structures, concrete, metal-roll and textile products.
The company’s top manager said they are considering prospects for implementing large-scale energy projects in Uzbekistan, including affecting the alternative energy sector. Such projects have already been successfully developed and implemented in Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Nigeria and Kazakhstan, while ensuring prices of 3.8-4.0 cents per kilowatt-hour of electricity produced. The company also shows great interests in terms of participation in the privatization and renovation of a number of hotels in the city of Tashkent and the regions of the republic.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for cooperation in determining the most promising areas for foreign partners and forming a package of specific investment.
Poland expresses its support and readiness to assist in development of agricultural sector in Uzbekistan
A delegation of Uzbekistan headed by Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan S. Khojaev visited Poland. During the meeting the Polish side expressed support and readiness to assist in the development of the agrarian sector of Uzbekistan.
The growing interest of Polish companies to participate in implementation of joint agricultural projects with the introduction of best practices and modern technologies, in particular, in the areas of advanced processing of agricultural products and the production of finished food products, production of seed potatoes, meat and dairy products, implementation of projects for the introduction of environmentally friendly, energy-efficient technology in agriculture.
During the negotiations in the reputable bank of Poland BGK (People’s Economic Bank) a thorough exchange of views took place on the issue of cooperation in the development of the agricultural sector. BGK management proposed to consider the possibility of providing a loan for Xalq Bank in the amount of up to 100 million euros for development of animal husbandry in the country.
Agreement reached on exchange of experience in crop production, fish farming, science and technology
A delegation of Uzbekistan led by the Minister of Agriculture Jamshid Khojaev paid a visit to Russia. The official part of the visit started from a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture of Russia, Dmitry Patrushev. The main topic of the talks was the issues of increasing the supply of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan to Russia, as well as the development of measures to assist business entities in the implementation of these supplies.
The parties agreed to hold in the near future a meeting of the joint Working Group on Agriculture with the involvement of Uzbek suppliers, representatives of Russian trade networks and relevant departments of the two countries.
During the dialogue with the chairman of Vnesheconombank Igor Shuvalov, the Russian side announced its readiness to consider the possibility of financing exports of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan to Russia. In the very near future, relevant documents will be developed for their further signing and commencement of joint work.
Uzbek-British Trade and Industry Council to take place in Tashkent
The 24th session of the Uzbek-British Trade and Industry Council (UBTIC) will take place on 28 February – 1 March 2018 in Tashkent. The upcoming annual UBTIC session will bring together Uzbek and British entrepreneurs to give both sides a chance to learn more about the business opportunities available in both countries. The event will consist of two parts: official plenary session and private sector sessions.
This year over 55 UK companies represented by over 100 businessmen will participate at the event, the largest number ever. British companies will also meet with a wide range of Uzbek Officials, state-owned enterprises and private sector representatives to exchange information about business opportunities and to discuss potential future cooperation.
