ADB to grant $197 million for the construction of agro-logistics centers in Uzbekistan
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will allocate a $197 million loan to Uzbekistan for the construction of agro-logistics centers. In accordance with the info of draft law portal, the logistics Center will be engaged in the selection, storage and delivery of fresh and processed fruits and vegetables.
ADB will provide a loan with a 5-year grace period for 25 years for the construction of agro-logistics centers. The loan is paid at the expense of the state budget. Uzbekistan, in turn, invests $ 47,75 million in the project. The capital will be presented in the form of $ 39,15 million preferences in tax and customs payments and $ 8,60 million for the coverage of financial expenses during the investment period.
Agro-logistics centers will be built in Andijan, Samarkand and Tashkent regions. The construction project is expected to be completed by 2023. Moreover, after the completion of the construction of logistics centers, it is proposed to create a free economic zone in the region.
EU to allocate € 10 million for the elimination of radioactive waste in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan
On November 8, London hosted an international conference on the rehabilitation of uranium tailings in Central Asia. At the conference, it was announced that the European Union (EU) will grant an additional € 10 million to eliminate radioactive waste in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
“The EU plays a leading role in the implementation of the program for the rehabilitation of uranium facilities in Central Asia. For more than 10 years, preliminary studies have been conducted in these three countries, namely, the preparation of technical-economical grounding and an assessment of the impact of intending work on the environment. The EU has directed € 14 million for these studies. All these researches were conducted jointly with the governments of the countries of the region, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP),” the report reads.
As noted, the next phase of the program is the direct rehabilitation of uranium facilities supported by the governments of three countries (Kyrgyz, Tajik and Uzbek republics) and requires immediate start of work. According to some experts, the region has more than 1 billion tons of toxic uranium production wastes that engender a threat to the population and the environment.
Made in Uzbekistan: the republic will present the achievements of the economy
The achievements of the country’s economy will be presented at the “Made in Uzbekistan” exhibition in Tashkent, which will be held November 14-16.
The exhibition is expected to help promote domestic industrial companies and innovative achievements. Guests are invited to familiarize themselves with the scientific and production potential of the country, the development of the automotive, railway and air transport infrastructure.
Last year, 220 domestic producers of high-quality and export-oriented products from all industrial sectors took part in the events. They presented more than 10 thousand goods and products of the automotive, light, electrical, chemical, mining and metallurgical, furniture industry, construction industry, pharmaceutical industry, education and other fields.
